"The Seventh Son" is a collection of nine original songs that cover a range of topics and I am pleased to say that I frequently get requests to perform the songs when playing live.
The title track is my life story in four minutes and nine seconds. Its about growing up the youngest of nine children and being Francis and Betty Berkemeier's Seventh Son. I probably get more requests for this song than almost any other and it is especially gratifying to hear how it has touched people over the years.
Also include are "This Day" a song inspired by the work that I have done with the annual MDA telethon, "You Are My Life" a loving tribute to my wife and best friend Margaret, and "I'm Still here" another song that I get a lot of requests for that I also recorded with Randy Hill on his recording "Reflections"
Along with my vocals, guitar and harmonica, I also had some help from a few good friends and family members. Randy Hilliker provides his stellar 12 string guitar work along with the bass of Steve Evans and Drums of Terry Sharpe. Tom Shepard's recorder adds just the right touch to "When The Morning Comes" and 'The Night Is Still Young". My brother Tom (The Fourth Son and the really great voice in the family) contributes harmony vocals and his wife Mary Rose Steins provides the keyboards.
I plan to offer more information about the songs on "The Seventh Son" as time allows.
